Community and regional initiatives are collaborative ventures that address a specific community issue such as teen pregnancy, arts education, neighborhood development or regional sustainability. They take many forms and can be narrow and short-term or comprehensive and long-term. For example, the Regional Civic Alliance of Ventura County is a citizen-led effort to promote dialogue and public engagement in creating a sustainable future for the region. The Drezner Group assisted with the Alliance's formation. This involved leading 50 civic leaders through a strategic planning and organizational development process that included a community indicators study and mapping project.
