Kathy Kenny, Senior Consultant

Kathy Kenny has more than 25 years' experience in organizational planning, program development, and strategic positioning for national, statewide, regional and local organizations and companies. A trained facilitator, she specializes in the planning and startup of collaborative public benefit programs for the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. As an independent consultant, Kathy has facilitated more than 50 successful organizational startups and planning efforts. Past and current consulting assignments include the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, numerous foundations, national and statewide community development organizations and intermediaries, professional associations, banks, and public agencies.

For a decade, Kathy was deputy director of the nationally recognized Development Fund, a non-profit business incubator for innovative community development and affordable housing lending programs. During her tenure at the Development Fund, she worked with banking and community leaders and the Federal Reserve to establish 12 new financing intermediaries and community development organizations throughout the nation which today have an aggregate loan volume approaching $900 million.

Recent publications include articles on affordable housing preservation, the secondary market for community development loans, and on nonprofit mergers and acquisitions, all published by the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. Kathy founded Generations, the journal of the American Society on Aging and has served on the board of directors of the Family Caregiver Alliance, California Resources and Training, and the Foundation for Osteoporosis Research and Education. Kathy holds a Master's in Social Work from San Diego State University, where she was an Administration on Aging Fellow in Gerontology. She is a graduate of the Coro Foundation's City Focus civic leadership program. She lives in Oakland, California.
